HOUSTON – HBU men's basketball will recognize seniors Jalon Gates and Jackson Stent just prior to the start of Saturday's Southland Conference matchup against McNeese in Sharp Gym at 7:00 p.m. for Senior Night and the final home game of the 2019-20 season. Husky fans can watch or listen to all the action on the Husky Sports Network with Lonnie King providing play-by-play via HBUHuskies.com.

In 51 career games Stent has averaged 13.1 minutes per game on the floor while making three starts. The senior forward is averaging 4.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game this season and is second on the team with a 54.5 percent mark from the floor. For his career at HBU he has averaged 4.4 points per game. He has twice scored a career-high of 12 points in a game, including earlier this season against Samford.

Gates, a senior guard, has climbed up multiple all-time lists at HBU in his 109 career games with the Huskies. He became just the third HBU player to reach 200 made threes for his career earlier this season and is third all-time in the category at 228. His 79 made threes this season are the seventh-most in a single-season in program history. Additionally, his current career free throw mark of 82.2 percent ranks second for a career while his 88.1 percent mark this season would be the best ever in a single-season. He also became the 30th member of the 1,000 point club and currently stands at 1,105 career points.

The last time the Huskies (3-23, 3-14 SLC) and Cowboys (13-15, 8-9 SLC) met, McNeese built a 15-point first half lead that HBU was able to cut down to four in the second half but get no closer. Junior Ian DuBose led the Huskies with 23 points while Gates added 19 and freshman Myles Pierre scored 18. Sha'Markus Kennedy led the Cowboys in that game with 37 points and 14 rebounds.

McNeese defeated Southeastern Louisiana this past Wednesday, Feb. 26, by a score of 104-82 to snap a six-game losing streak. Kennedy is currently second in the nation in field goal percentage, connecting on 68.3 percent of his attempts from the floor, and averages a double-double of 18.4 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. A.J. Lawson and Dru Kuxhausen are both also averaging over 15 ppg.

The Huskies will be on the road to close out the season next week beginning Wednesday, Mar. 4, in San Antonio, Texas against UIW before continuing on to Corpus Christi to take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, Mar. 7.
