PRAIRIE VIEW – The Huskies took a short trip north to face the Prairie View A&M Panthers Tuesday afternoon and pulled out a 61-54 victory to finish the non-conference season. 

HBU (4-3) was led by sophomore forward N'Denasija Collins who posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Timia Jefferson kept her game streak of double-digit points with 13 while adding five rebounds and four steals. Freshman Enya Maguire added nine points off the bench and junior Marilyn Nzoiwu added eight rebounds. The Huskies forced 23 turnovers and were able to outscore the Panthers by dominating at the three-point line with 31.3 percent and the free throw line going 16-for-24.  

PVAMU (1-2) was led by Diana Rosenthal with 16 points and six rebounds. Sisters Tiffany and Tierra Tullis both added seven points with Tiffany leading with seven rebounds. The Panthers led in field goal percentage with 41.7, but struggled to capitalize on free throws going 3-for-18 and only went 10 percent at the three-point line.  

The Huskies will begin Southland Conference play with a home opener against the Northwestern State Demons on Saturday, Jan. 2 in Sharp Gym at 2 p.m.
