HOUSTON - HBU hosts Texas Wesleyan in the Wakiza White Out home opener Saturday at 6:05 p.m. at Husky Stadium. The video broadcast will be shown live on the Husky Sports Network with Lonnie King and Tyler Boyd and the first 150 students will receive a free Wakiza White Out t-shirt.

The Huskies (0-1) came up just short of upsetting FBS foe UTEP in a 36-34 loss on the road in the opener. Junior quarterback
Bailey Zappe was 27-of-37 for 300 yards, the fourth 300-yard game of his career, and a pair of touchdowns. Junior running back
Dreshawn Minnieweather ran for 67 yards, while sophomore
Ean Beek rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown. Junior receiver
Ben Ratzlaff caught eight passes for 88 yards and a score, while sophomore
Jerreth Sterns also had eight catches for 62 yards and senior
Gamar Girdy Brito had three catches for 84 yards.

TWU (0-1) fell on the road to Kansas Wesleyan, the fourth-ranked team in the NAIA, 48-24, last Saturday. Donovan Isom was 20-for-33 for 282 yards and two touchdowns. LeMant Monroe made seven catches for 107 yards and a touchdown and Tyler Pullig had four catches for 94 yards and a score. Jermarcus Jones was TWU's leading rusher with 12 carries for 42 yards.

Mark Seidler led the Rams defensively with eight tackles and a sack, while Tarik Davis and Adan Ponce each made seven stops. Justin Arth was one of three TWU players with six tackles and also added an interception.

Saturday's contest marks the first meeting between the two schools and they are scheduled to square off again at Husky Stadium on Sept. 19, 2020.

HBU will hit the road next week for an FCS matchup against South Dakota.
