HOUSTON - HBU opened the 2019 campaign by sweeping Bethune-Cookman, then bounced back from a first-set setback to down Radford in four on the first day of the Barcelona Sports Invitational Friday in Sharp Gym.

Megan Patillo hit .647 with 11 kills and no errors on 17 attempts, while adding seven digs, two aces and two blocks. Sophomore middle blocker
Ebonie Ballesteros tied for the second-most blocks in an NCAA Division I match in school history with 12 and registered seven kills. Junior outside hitter
Mikayla Vivens led the Huskies (2-0) with 12 kills and 19 digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Kelly Colwell added eight kills and 18 digs. Junior setter
Morgan Dewyer posted six kills, 29 assists, five digs and three aces. Senior libero
Hannah Lewis came up with 15 digs and junior defensive specialist
Makenna Davis recorded a career-high 10. Freshman right side
Anna Gadway chipped in with five kills and seven blocks.
Mallory McKnight led the Highlanders (1-1) with seven kills and six blocks, while Taylor O'Neal, Hailey Flowers, Samantha Reitz and Stephanie Neast each had five kills. O'Neal had 12 digs and Neast had six blocks. Jordan Coomes recorded 16 assists and Alyssa Carruth led Radford with 15 digs.
The Huskies hit .336 for the match, while the Highlanders hit .209. HBU outdug Radford, 76-58, and outblocked them, 16.0-12.0.
After dropping the first set to Radford, HBU held a 10-6 lead, but scored 13 of the next 14 points, which included two kills and three blocks by Ballesteros.
Vivens hit .484 with 16 kills and eight digs in the 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-20) victory over BCU. Ballesteros added nine kills and a block, while Colwell had eight kills and nine digs. Patillo had five kills, four blocks and a pair of aces. Dewyer dished out 39 assists and Lewis led the Huskies with 11 digs.
Alleah Dallas, Tynesha Adams and Faith Landreneaux hah four kills for BCU (0-2). Jordan Jefferson came up with 13 digs and Ryleigh Taylor recorded 14 assists.
HBU hit .290 for the match, while holding BCU to .159. The Huskies outdug the Wildcats, 43-35, outblocked them 4.5-1.0 and outaced them, 7-1.
The Huskies wrap up their home tournament against UT Rio Grande Valley Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
