Hunter Janacek – Houston, Texas (Angelina College), 6-5, 185 lb., Guard

Janacek, a 6-5 guard originally from Houston, is a junior college transfer from Angelina College where he played his sophomore season under head coach Nick Wade. During the 2018-19 season he started 30 of 31 games, averaging 8.6 points per game while shooting 35.3 percent from behind the arc and leading the team in three-pointers made. Janacek also added 3.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game with a 91.8 percent shooting percentage from the foul line. He sat out the 2017-18 season after playing his freshman year in 2016-17 at Lafayette where he started 12 out of 30 games and scored 5.9 ppg.

Janacek is the son of Rebecca and Tim Janacek and played high school basketball at Scarborough High School.

Janacek on HBU:

"Playing my last two years of college basketball in my hometown at HBU is a dream come true. Coach Kinne was one of the first coaches to recognize my talent early on in my career and from that point forward, my relationship with Coach Cottrell and the HBU staff has grown greatly. The opportunity to play for a staff that believes in me is exactly why I chose to be a Husky. I'm excited to get on campus this summer, get to work with the rest of the guys, and prepare for a special season ahead."

Cottrell on Janacek:

"Hunter is a junior college transfer who we recruited out of high school. He's a really good shooter who is long and can shoot over the top of smaller guards. He's really worked on his game in his time between high school and now, coming out of junior college, where he's a more well-rounded player. He's one of those guys who you have to guard any time he's on the floor due to his ability to shoot the ball from deep range and should add an element to our team we really need. Hunter is another guy I expect to fit in well and be a major contributor for our program."
