BEAUMONT- HBU Softball edged out a 3-2 victory on the road against Lamar Tuesday evening in Beaumont.
HBU (20-20) have got themselves back to .500 after extending their winning streak to 5 games this evening. Senior shortstop
Demi Janak went a perfect 2-2 in the game with a run scored to push her average to .298 for the team lead.
Riley Bullen got the scoring started for HBU with a RBI single in the 1st inning. Freshman
Autumn Sydlik tied things up after the Huskies gave up 2 runs in the third with an RBI double.
Caitlyn Brockway added to her RBI total by going 1-3 with a go ahead RBI double.
Emma Guindon (10-6) got the win for HBU in the circle in relief. Guindon pitched 4 innings giving up two hits and a walk, with a strikeout to push her scoreless inning streak to 14.
Lamar (22-28) was lead by Shannon Klaus who went 2-4 with a run scored. She was followed up by Kimberely Mattox 1-3 and Jade Lewis 1-4, who both drove in a run for the Cardinals. Shortstop Elizabeth Castillo added 1-2 performance with a run scored.
Julia Voluntad (6-10) went 6.2 innings for Lamar giving up three runs, on five hits, and four walks while striking out six.
HBU will next go to Conway Arkansas for a Southland Conference series against Central Arkansas that may determine their fate for postseason play. Games will begin Friday with a double-header beginning at 5:00 P.M. Game three will be Saturday at 1:00 P.M.
