CORPUS CHRISTI- HBU Softball Falls in game one 3-2, but comes back to win game two 3-0. Huskies combine for 5 runs and 15 hits on the day.
Game One-
Haley Melton lead the Huskies with a 2-3 performance with a double as the Huskies had six total team hits.
Sierra Humphrey had the lone HBU RBI.
Riley Bullen,
Autumn Sydlik, and
Brooke Bushman rounded out the hits for the Huskies in game one.
Jessica Patak (2-6) got the loss in the circle for the Huskies giving up three in the first inning then shutting down the Islanders the remainder of the game. Her final line was six innings, three runs on six hits, with two strikeouts.
The Islanders were led by Kennedy Johnson who racked up two hits and two RBI's on the day. Whitney Windell followed her up driving in the other run for Corpus Christi going 1-3 on the day.
Kandance Johnson (3-4) got the win in the circle for the Islanders going the distance giving up two runs on six hits, striking out four.
Game Two- The Huskies cruised to a 3-0 win behind a perfect 3-3 performance at the plate by Senior
Brooke Bushman who drove in one and scored once. Senior
Demi Janak followed her up with a 2-3 day driving in one.
Haley Melton matched her game one performance going 2-3 scoring once.
Emma Guindon (4-0) spun her third complete game and second shutout of the season pitching seven innings giving up three hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
The Islanders one and two hole hitters gathered two of the teams three hits with them combining to go 2-5.
Alexis Rual (1-8) went the distance for Corpus Christi giving up three runs on nine hits with two strikeouts.
Game three will come Saturday at Noon with the winner taking the series. The Huskies will then return to Husky Field to have a three game series against Southeastern Louisiana.
