HOUSTON- HBU Softball fell to McNeese Saturday by a score of 4-2. The Huskies had mounted a comeback by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth and had the bases loaded before
Sierra Humphrey was retired on a flyout to left.
HBU (14-14, 4-8) out hit the Cowgirls 9-7, but were unable to plate runners leaving 11 runners on base. The Huskies were led by
Riley Bullen who went a perfect 3-3 scoring once and drew one walk. Shortstop
Demi Janak followed her up with a 2-3 day at the plate with a double, a run scored, and a walk.
Megan Hiers plated a RBI in the 6th inning with a pinch hit AB.
Elliot Estes (4-3) got the lose in the circle for the Huskies giving up four runs on five hits in 2.1 innings pitched as she gave way to
Emma Guindon who finished the game giving up two hits and striking out two in 4.2 innings pitched.
McNeese (17-20, 8-4) was led by the top of the order, with the first three batters collecting five combined hits. Justyce McClain and Cori McCrary had two hits each with both scoring once. Alexandria Saldivar went 1-2 driving in one run and scoring once.
Caroline Settle (5-6) got the win for the Cowgirls in the circle pitching 5.2 innings giving up two runs, one earned on seven hits and five strikeouts. Saleen Flores got the Save for McNeese pitching a scoreless 7th inning giving up two hits.
HBU will return to action next weekend on the road in Huntsville taking on Sam Houston State. The series will start Friday April 5th at 4:00 P.M. with game two slotted for a 6:00 P.M. start with game three coming Saturday at Noon.
