HOUSTON- HBU softball split games with McNeese Friday taking game one by a score of 5-4 and dropping game two 1-0.
Game one: HBU collected seven total hits on the day and capitalized on the Cowgirls three errors to push across five total runs. The Huskies had seven different batters get hits with one going for extra bases as
Amber Lotz doubled to left center.
Heidi Jaquez,
Autumn Sydlik, and
Haley Melton each drove in a run.
Elliot Estes (5-2) got the win for the Huskies in the circle going 3.2 innings giving up one run on one hit and one walk.
McNeese was able to collect six total hits with Cori McCrary driving in two runs in the game. Haylee Brinlee drove in the remaining run for the Cowgirls. McCrary stole three bags in game one with Toni Perrin taking one as well.
Saleen Flores 1-4 took the loss in the circle after giving up two unearned runs in relief.
Game two: Pitching dominated game two as there was a total of five hits between both teams. HBU's lone hit came when
Heidi Jaquez hit a ball off the wall in right, but was gunned down on her way to second.
Emma Guindon (5-4) took the hard luck loss for the Huskies giving up one run on four hits in 7 innings of work.
McNeese had two doubles one from McCrary and another from Demi Boudreaux. Boudreaux came around to score as Perrin drove her in.
Saleen Flores (2-4) came back to start game two and got the win spinning a one hit shutout for the Cowgirls
Game three will be Saturday March 30 with first pitch coming at Noon.
