HOUSTON- HBU Softball wins on the road taking down UTA by a score of 6-5.
HBU (13-9) scored six runs on nine hits to edge out the Mavericks. The Huskies were led by senior first baseman
Brooke Bushman who went 2-4 with a two run homerun to get the scoring going for the Huskies. Second baseman
Amber Lotz went a perfect 3-3 on the day driving in one. Junior outfielder
Riley Bullen drove in two runs and scored once. Shortstop
Demi Janak added her seventh double on the season with one RBI and one run scored.
Jessica Patak (4-6) got the win for the Huskies in the circle in relief. Patak pitched 2.2 innings giving up two runs on four hits with two strikeouts.
Emma Guindon (2) notched another save as she only gave up two hits across 2.2 innings with four strikeouts.
UTA (14-13) scored five runs on eleven hits led by Shelbi Court who collected two hits on the day including a two run homerun in the 5th inning. Three other Mavericks collected two hits on the day with Laura Curry and Reagan Wright driving in a run each.
Randi Phillips (7-7) took the loss in the circle for the Mavericks going 3,2 innings giving up four runs on six hits with two strikeouts in relief.
HBU will now travel to Nachodoches to take on SFA in a three game Southland Conference series starting with a double-header Friday March 22 at 1:00 p.m. and finishing up Saturday at Noon.
