SB: Huskies Fall in 11 Innings to Southeastern Louisiana

HOUSTON- HBU Softball fell to Southeastern Louisiana in a long battle where the Lady Lions outlasted the Huskies 4-3. Both teams combine for 25 total hits on the day,

HBU (12-9, 3-3) had 11 hits on the day led by freshman third baseman Autumn Sydlik who went 4-5 on the day with a double and a run scored. Freshman Caitlyn Brockway added to her team lead with her 5th homerun of the year to straight away center field. Junior Heidi Jaquez drove in two runs for HBU on her lone hit of the day while also reaching base on a walk.

Emma Guindon (5-2) took the hard luck loss in the circle for the Huskies coming in to pitch in the fourth inning and going the rest of the way. Guindon pitched eight innings giving up two earned runs on eight hits, striking out four.  

Southeastern La (15-11, 4-2) was led by first basemen Rebecca Skains who went 4-6 on the day driving in a pair of runs with two doubles and scoring once on her own. Ella Manzer followed her up with a 3-5 day with a double and a RBI.

Alley McDonald (4-3) got the win for Southeastern Louisiana pitching nine scoreless innings giving up six hits with a strikeout. 

HBU got on the board first with Heidi Jaquez driving in two with a single to center. The Lions answered back in the top of the third when Skains doubled and Doucet singled to left to bring Skains home to tie things up at 2 all. In the bottom half of the inning the Huskies regained the lead on Caitlyn Brockway's solo shot to center. There were three scoreless frames for both teams until Southeastern Louisiana was down to their last at bats where they tied the game on a Manzer single. Things remained scoreless until the top of the eleventh where back to back doubles by Rizzo and Skains to take the lead for good at 4-3.
