HOUSTON, TX- HBU Softball takes home a pair of wins Saturday at Husky Field. HBU won game one by a score of 6-2 and game 3 by a score of 4-2. These two wins get the Huskies back to .500 on the season before they hit the road for the Lady Demon Classic next weekend.
Game One- Junior
Heidi Jaquez led the Huskies (3-3) with a 3-4 performance at the plate with two runs scored. Freshman
Autumn Sydlik followed her up going 2-3 with 3 RBI's and a run scored including a two run homerun. Senior
Brooke Bushman added a 2-3 performance with a RBI.
Sophomore
Jessica Patak (1-2) got the win in the circle for HBU pitching 6.1 innings giving up two runs on nine hits, two walks, and six strikeouts.
Emma Guindon (1-0,1) came in and got the final two outs to secure her first career save with two strikeouts.
Danielle Sonnier went 2-2 for the Lady Tigers with a RBI and two walks. Marissa Padron followed her up going 2-3 with an RBI.
Game Two- Senior
Demi Janak led the Huskies in game two when she took a Chelsea Baxter pitch deep to left center for a three-run homerun. Junior transfer
Haley Melton followed her up with a 2-3 day at the plate and
Heidi Jaquez went 1-3 with a RBI.
Freshman
Emma Guindon (2-0, 1) went the distance for the Huskies with her final line being 7 innings pitched giving up two runs on four hits, five walks and six strikeouts.
The Lady Tigers were led by Tevenae Tate and Danielle Sonier. Tate went 1-3 with an RBI double. Sonier went 2-3 with an RBI.
HBU Softball will next get back on the field next weekend in Nachitoches, La. in the Lady Demon Classic. The Huskies will face off against UAPB, Saint Louis, and host team Northwestern State starting Feb. 22 at 10a.m.
