SB: Huskies Fall in Heartbreak Loss

HATTIESBURG, MS- HBU Softball falls to Tennessee Tech after a 7th inning rally by a score of 6-7 that the Huskies fell short of matching in the bottom half of the inning.  

The Huskies (1-3) were led by Demi Janak and Autumn Sydlik at the plate, who each each recorded two RBI's on the day. Janak went 2-4 with a double and a solo homerun, and Autumn Sydlik went 1-3 with a double. Sierra Humphrey added a perdect 3-3 day at the plate with one walk and Amber Lotz added a perfect 2-2 on the day with two runs scored. 

Sophomore Jessica Patak (0-2) got the hard-luck loss in the circle for the Huskies pitching 6.2 innings giving up seven runs, two earned on eight hits, and four strikeouts. 

Tennessee Tech (2-2) had five different players record a RBI including Gabby LaSala's 2-4 with a double and two RBI's. Beth McCulley went a perfect 3-3 with a double and a RBI.

Haeli Bryson (1-0) earned the win pitching 4.2 innings giving up two runs on five hits, two walks, and two strikeouts.  

There was action early in the game with both teams combining to score 6 runs in the first two innnings. HBU got the better half of this scoring three in the bottom of the second to take a 4-2 lead. Both teams traded a run in the 4th inning. The top of the 7th inning began with an error by Garcia followed by two singles, and then a fielder's choice plated a run. A sac fly by Alexis Trimiar followed by a two RBI single to take a 7-5 lead before a foul out ended the inning. 

Demi Janak homered to lead off the bottom half followed by a walk drawn by Sierra Humphrey. A lineout, groundout, and a strikeout ended the inning as the Huskies fell 6-7.

HBU is next in action Feb. 16 as they host Texas Southern in a double-header for their Home Opener.
