HOUSTON – HBU men's basketball will play its second in-town opponent of the season this Saturday when the Huskies renew their rivalry with the Rice Owls inside Tudor Fieldhouse at 7:00 p.m. Husky fans can listen the Husky Sports Network broadcast with Lonnie King live via HBUHuskies.com.

The Huskies (0-7) and Owls (6-4) played each other in six consecutive seasons from the 2011-12 season through the 2016-17 campaign. While Rice holds an 8-3 all-time advantage in the series, HBU has won three of the last four meetings.

HBU junior Ty Dalton had his best offensive game of the season in the team's last game, shooting 7-of-11 from the floor and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc for 17 points while also dishing out three assists. Dalton currently leads the Huskies with 3.1 assists per game which is good for eighth in the Southland Conference. Additionally, his 1.5 assist/turnover ratio is seventh-best in the league.

Off the bench in the game against Samford, senior Jackson Stent tied a career-best with 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting while sophomore Qon Murphy added 13 in a reserve role. Also in that game, senior Jalon Gates totaled a team-high 20 points to bring his career total to 842 and raise his team-leading points per game to 17.9. Junior Ian DuBose reached the 1,000-point plateau in the second half of just his 68th career game and pulled down a team-best nine rebounds.

The Owls boast four players averaging double-figures in scoring led by sophomore Trey Murphy III at 13.3 ppg. Ako Adams, Robert Martin and Drew Peterson are all averaging between 10.2 and 11.8 ppg. Additionally, three of those four players average more than five rebounds per game. Combined, they have accounted for 59 percent of the team's points and 48 percent of the team's rebounds.

Rice is 2-1 on its home floor this season, downing Penn and Wayland Baptist while falling to Houston. The Owls have played a pair of Southland Conference teams, both on the road, defeating Northwestern State by six and losing at Lamar by 13. So far this season, Rice ranks 26th in the nation in three-point attempts and 25 in total three-pointers made. In their loss at Lamar, the Owls made more threes than two-point field goals.

The Huskies begin Southland Conference play next Wednesday, Dec. 18, with a trip to Nacogdoches, Texas to face Stephen F. Austin at 6:30 p.m. inside Johnson Coliseum.
