HOUSTON. TX- HBU Women's Basketball came back from a 23-17 deficit in the first half to secure a 67-44 victory over LSU-Shreveport Tuesday night in Sharp Gym.
HBU (1-0) got the win in their season opener with a true team effort as 11 Huskies scored on the night. The Huskies were led in scoring by Senior
Lauren Calver who scored 14 points on 6-8 shooting. A pair of freshman followed her up in their HBU debuts as
Timia Jefferson and
Kennedy Wilson added 13 points and 11 points respectively. HBU really made a strong effort on the defensive end forcing 31 turnovers on the night that led to 30 points.
LSU-Shreveport (1-1) was led by Fu'tra Banks who fell one rebound shy of a double-double scoring a team high 11 points and had a team high nine rebounds. Sabrina Banks follwed her up with 10 points and six rebounds as they were the only two Pilots players in double digit figures. LSU-Shreveport won the rebounding battle just edging out the Huskies 36-35.
The Huskies Women's Basketball team will return to action exactly one week from tonight as they take on Paul Quinn in Sharp Gym at 7:00 P.M.
