FRISCO, Texas – Following a breakout sophomore campaign in which he finished fifth in the Southland Conference in scoring and ranked in the top 10 in a number of other categories, junior
Ian DuBose has been selected first team Preseason All-Southland Conference for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
DuBose, a second team All-SLC selection last season, led the Huskies in scoring (17 ppg) and rebounding (5.9 rpg) and was second on the team in both assists (3.4 apg) and steals (1.6 spg). In conference play, he averaged 16.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.6 spg and shot 45 percent from three while connecting on 48.6 percent from the floor. Each of those stats ranked in the top 10 in the league.
With 510 points in 30 games as a sophomore, DuBose was the first HBU player to eclipse 500 points in a season since Anthony Odunsi totaled 576 points over 33 games during the 2015-16 season.
DuBose is the only junior on the first team and is joined by four seniors in SFA guard Kevon Harris, Sam Houston State forward Kai Mitchell, Abilene Christian guard Payten Ricks and New Orleans guard Bryson Robinson.
HBU will tip-off the 2019-20 season on Tuesday, Nov. 5, when they take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at noon in Tulsa, Okla.
