HAMMOND, La- HBU women's basketball comeback falls short against Southeastern Louisiana Wednesday night. HBU's 32 points in the fourth quarter were still not enough for the Huskies to complete the comeback, as HBU fell by a score of 65-73.
HBU (6-10, 1-5 SLC) have hit a four game skid with the loss and will look to get back in the win column this weekend facing off against McNeese. In the loss,
Amanda Johnson put up 23 points and grabbed five rebounds in her second start of the year.
Megan Valdez-Crader recorded 20 points on the night on 50 percent shooting from the field.
Takara Wade led the Huskies in rebounds securing seven and adding five points.
SLU (8-9, 3-3 SLC) had three players score in the double-digits on the evening and defensively the Lady Lions held the Huskies 33 points through the first three quarters. Celica Sterling paced all scorers with 24 points and added seven rebounds. Caitlyn Williams recorded a double-double scoring 10 points and a game high 15 rebounds. Charlie Dugas put up 15 points of her own with three rebounds.
HBU will next travel to Lake Charles to take on McNeese this Saturday before returning home to Sharp Gym for a two game home stand against Incarnate Word Jan. 30 and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Feb. 2.
