LAKE CHARLES, La. – Both the men's and women's teams placed sixth out of 14 competing teams on Saturday morning at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede cross country meet with the women running a 5k race and the men running a four-mile course.
Freshman
Johanna Drews paced the HBU women, placing 19
th overall, cutting nearly 30 seconds off her previous best 5k time this season at the Memphis Twilight and crossing the line in 19:48.4. Fellow freshman
Jessica Rabius trimmed 13 seconds off her 5k time, finishing in 20:22.9 to place 30
th.
Naomi Simei came in 34
th with a time of 20:28.6 with
Chandler Krueger posting a time of 20:44.3 in 41
st.
Faith Crayton rounded out the Huskies' top-five, placing 53
rd. As a team, the women placed sixth out of 14 competing teams.
For the men, sophomore
Enoch Ramirez and
Stephen Aguilar were the top two finishers with Ramirez placing 21
st with a time of 22:29.6 and Aguilar coming in three spots behind in 24
th with a time of 22:41.8.
Josh Moran, a freshman, was next for HBU finishing in 23:10.0 to finish 40
th. Fellow freshman
Travis Jacobs placed 48
th, crossing the line in 23:35.8, with
Christos Zachariou finishing 68
th. The men's race also had 14 teams competing with the Huskies taking sixth place.
HBU will next run at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M, in two weeks on Saturday, Oct. 13, for the Huskies' final race ahead of the Southland Conference Championships on Friday, Oct. 26.
