STILLWATER, Okla. - HBU women's basketball fell to Oklahoma State by a score of 77-44 Saturday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Junior forward
Lauren Calver led the Huskies (4-4) in scoring with 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting, adding four rebounds. Sophomore guard
Megan Valdez-Crader followed her up with seven points making 5-of-6 from the line and junior guard
Takara Wade added seven points on 3-of-8 shooting.
OSU had three players in double digits scoring. Vivian Gray led all scorers with 23 points and eight rebounds and Mariam Gnanou posted a double-double scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. LaTashia Jones scored 13 points and seven rebounds.
The Cowgirls scored the first 9-0 points of the game in opening with a 14-2 run, before the Huskies cut the lead to seven before the end of the quarter behind a jumper from Calver and a pair of free throws from junior guard
Shannon Jones. The second quarter is where Oklahoma State really extended their lead behind a variety of scorers. By the end of the half the Cowgirls led 30-17. The Huskies ramped up their scoring in the third quarter, but it was not enough as the Cowgirls were able to score as well. Vivian Gray and LaTashia Jones continued to score baskets throughout the fourth and finished the game with a 9-4 spurt.
HBU returns home to face Oral Roberts and ULM next week before starting conference play against Lamar and New Orleans.
