HOUSTON- HBU women's basketball dropped a non-conference matchup to Oral Roberts Sunday afternoon in Sharp Gym, 74-56. The Golden Eagles led the whole way as Oral Roberts hit 12 three-pointers on the day that helped push them to victory. The Huskies bench continued to put up points, but it was not enough to keep HBU in the game.
Taylor Kollmorgen was one rebound short of a double-double as she put up a team high 19 points and added nine rebounds.
Lauren Calver also scored in double digits for the Huskies as she put up 17 points and added seven rebounds. A game high 12 rebounds were secured by
Veronika Kirienko who added six points.Â
Maya Mayberry led the way for the Golden Eagles scoring a game high 25 points on 10-12 shooting adding five rebounds and six steals. Lakota Beatty and Keni Jo Lippe both had double digit scoring performances for Oral Roberts, with Beatty scoring 10 and Jo Lippe scoring 11,Â
HBU (4-5) out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 43-33, but ORU (7-5) out-shot the Huskies shooting 45.2% from the field with HBU shooting 31.6%. HBU won in the paint outscoring Oral Roberts 32-24, but Oral Roberts was able to turn the Huskies 23 turnovers into 27 points.Â
HBU returns to action Dec. 19 against ULM in Sharp Gym before the start of conference play in the beginning of the new year against Lamar Jan. 2.
