SAN MARCOS, Texas – On Saturday afternoon the HBU men's basketball team will head to the Texas hill country to face the Texas State Bobcats inside Strahan Arena with a 4:00 p.m. tip-off. The Huskies (2-4) have dropped a pair of close matchups to Conference USA opponents, UTSA and Louisiana Tech, in their last two games and saw all five starters score in double-figures at Louisiana Tech.
 
HBU has played a schedule so far that is ranked 15th by ESPN in strength of schedule. The Huskies' opponents so far have a combined record of 34-17. Additionally, the Huskies' win at Wake Forest is the lone win by a Southland school over a power conference opponent so far this season.
 
Texas State (8-1) is riding a six-game winning streak that includes wins over UTSA and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Junior Nijal Pearson leads the Bobcats with 21 points per game and is 31-of-62 (50 percent) from beyond the arc. Senior Alex Peacock leads Texas State on the boards, pulling down 7.3 rebounds per game to go along with 8.7 ppg. As a team, the Bobcats are shooting 45.9 percent from the floor, out-scoring opponents by 15.2 ppg and out-rebounding opponents by nine.
 
Last season, HBU defeated the Bobcats 71-52 inside Sharp Gym behind 54.9 percent shooting and a 39-28 rebounding advantage. Pearson was the lone Texas State player to score in double-digits, leading the team with 16 points on 19 field goal attempts. HBU owns a 2-2 all-time record against the Bobcats.
 
The Huskies will be back at home in Sharp Gym on Friday, Dec. 14, for a 7:00 p.m. matchup against Arlington Baptist.
