LAKE CHARLES, La. – On Friday morning at the Enos Derbonne Sports Complex, the HBU men's and women's cross country teams took part in the 2018 Southland Conference Cross Country Championships with sophomore
Enoch Ramirez placing 14
th on the men's side while the women's team placed 11
th.
Ramirez finished the men's 8k race with a time of 27:29.4 to secure the top-15 finish as an individual for a Husky men's side that did not qualify for a team score with four runners competing. Sophomore
Stephen Aguilar finished with a time of 29:07.9 while freshman
Travis Jacobs posted a time of 30:16.1 with junior
Christos Zachariou the Huskies' fourth finisher.
For the women, freshman
Jessica Rabius led the way with a time of 25:58.3 to finish 48
th. Another freshman,
Naomi Simei, was next for HBU with a time of 26:45.9 while fellow freshman
Johanna Drews and
Chandler Krueger crossed the line at the same time with identical marks of 26:58.3. Junior
Faith Crayton was the Huskies' fifth point-scorer with a time of 27:00.4.
Sarah Rivenbark, Marina Taylor and
Miracle Crayton also ran for HBU.
HBU will head to College Station, Texas for the second time this season on Friday, Nov. 9, for the NCAA South Central Regional Championships with the women's race starting at 9:15 a.m.
