HOUSTON – HBU men's basketball wraps up its three-game Southland Conference homestand on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 7:00 p.m. in Sharp Gym when the Huskies will host Abilene Christian for the only meeting between the two schools this season. Fans can listen to the action with Lonnie King providing the call on the Legacy Sports Network audio broadcast, available at HBUHuskies.com.

The Huskies (4-12, 0-3 SLC) aim to break a five-game losing streak with their last two tough-luck losses both coming in games in which neither team led by more than seven. Last Saturday's game against Nicholls saw 15 lead changes with the last coming on Nicholls' Roddy Peters free throws with 21 seconds left. HBU's Edward Hardt's runner at the buzzer bounced off the back of the iron to end the game.

Freshman David Caraher led all players with 26 points while fellow frosh Ian DuBose posted the second double-double of his career, finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds. So far in SLC play four freshmen (Caraher, DuBose, Philip McKenzie, Oliver Lynch-Daniels) and a sophomore (Jalon Gates) are the team's top-five scorers, accounting for nearly 80 percent of the team's scoring.

Abilene Christian (10-7, 2-2 SLC) boast three players averaging between 13 and 13.4 points per game with junior forward Jaren Lewis leading in both points (13.4 ppg) and rebounds (6.6 rpg). Lewis' field goal percentage of .620 (88-of-142) is second in the conference and 22nd in the nation. Sohpomore center Jalone Friday is adding 13.2 ppg for the season but just 8.5 ppg in conference play, fouling out of all four ACU Southland games thus far. For the year, the Wildcats are averaging 77 points per game and out-scoring opponents by more than six ppg.

The Huskies will hit the road for the next two, beginning on Saturday, Jan. 13, in Huntsville, Texas against Sam Houston State at 6:15 p.m.
