NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The HBU men's basketball team remains on the road after a heartbreaking overtime loss in Corpus Christi on Saturday to face the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks inside Johnson Coliseum on Wednesday evening in a Southland Conference clash at 7:00 p.m. Husky fans can listen to the Legacy Sports Network audio broadcast with Lonnie King providing play-by-play commentary, available at HBUHuskies.com. The game will also be available on ESPN3.
 
With a 24-point performance in the Huskies' (5-17, 1-8 SLC) overtime loss at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, freshman David Caraher raised his season average to 16.2 points per game and is now 11th among all freshmen in the nation in scoring. In conference play, Caraher is averaging 20.6 ppg which is second among all players behind only Central Arkansas' Jordan Howard who is third in the nation in scoring.
 
Junior Braxton Bonds reached 100 steals for his career with his two in the game against the Islanders, reaching that mark in 53 games. He is now just 29 steals away from entering the top-10 in program history in all-time takeaways. Bonds' 42 steals this season have him tied for 44th in the nation in total steals.
 
As a team this season, HBU is out-rebounding opponents by nearly three rebounds per game and continues to pace the nation on the offensive boards with 16.09 offensive rebounds per game, nearly one-and-a-half more than West Virginia, which is second.
 
Stephen F. Austin (17-4, 6-2 SLC) is led by sophomore guard Kevon Harris who is averaging 16.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game and has twice been named SLC Player of the Week. Junior transfer Shannon Bogues is second on the team at 14.9 ppg coming off the bench while junior TJ Holyfield added 14 ppg and leads the team with 6.5 rpg. In their most recent game, an 82-66 win at home over Sam Houston State, the Lumberjacks got 69 points from their bench with Bogues and Ty Charles combining for 49 points. SFA shot 66 percent from the floor in the win.
 
HBU is off this weekend with the Huskies' next game coming at home in Sharp Gym on Wednesday, Feb. 7, when they host Central Arkansas at 7:00 p.m.
