HOUSTON - HBU renews its crosstown rivaly with Texas Southern Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at BBVA Compass Stadium. The game will be televised on AT&T SportsNet Southwest and the Legacy Sports Network audio broadcast with Lonnie King can be heard on HBUHuskies.com.
The "Houston Strong Game" features two FCS programs from Houston. Fans who bring a canned food item to donate to area victims of Hurricane Harvey will receive a $5 general admission ticket, with a limit of four per donation.
The Huskies (0-1) fell in their season opener to FBS foe Texas State, 20-11, in San Marcos. Freshman quarterback

TSU (0-1) dropped its season opener on the road to Florida A&M, 29-7, on Aug. 26, then the Tigers' annual Labor Day weekend matchup with Prairie View A&M was postponed until the end of the season due to Hurricane Harvey. In the loss to the Rattlers, Jay Christophe led the Tigers with 140 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception, while also leading in rushing with 29 yards. DeAndre Angelle had four catches for 70 yards and Darvin Kidsey made three receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown.
The Tigers are led defensively by defensive backs Archie Rice, Sean Jones and Dondre Dobbins.
HBU won last season's meeting at Husky Stadium, 24-20, on Sept. 10. Austin Watts' eight-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown reception, followed by his 93-yard punt return for a touchdown gave TSU its first lead with 5:53 remaining, but Peters broke free for a 51-yard touchdown run to put HBU ahead for good. Tony Dawson went 19-for-27 for 150 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for 46 yards.
The Huskies return to action when they face Abilene Christian to open Southland Conference play Saturday at 6 p.m. in the first-ever game at Wildcat Stadium in Abilene.
