HOUSTON – After playing five of the first six games of the season on the road, the HBU men's basketball team plays its next two games in the friendly confines of Sharp Gym beginning with Dallas Christian on Tuesday, Nov. 28, evening at 7:00 p.m. Husky fans can listen to the action via the Legacy Sports Network audio broadcast with Lonnie King available at HBUHuskies.com.

Prior to the start of Tuesday's game, the University will be inducting legendary former coach of the Huskies, Gene Iba, into the school's Hall of Honor. Iba coached at HBU from 1977-85 and guided the Huskies to the school's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1984.

The Huskies (1-5) opened their season with three games (at Providence, at Virginia Tech, at Oklahoma State) against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago along with another game against a Belmont team that reached the second round of last year's NIT among their first six games.

HBU's Josh Ibarra, a senior, is leading the team in scoring with a 15.6 scoring average and his 9.2 rebounds per game are tops on the team and in the Southland Conference. His four offensive boards per game tie him for 13th nationally in grabbing rebounds off the offensive glass.

As a team, HBU is 10th in the country in offensive rebounding, after finishing the 2016-17 season 10th in the same category, with 15.33 per game. Overall, the Huskies are out-rebounding opponents by a slim 40.5 to 40.2 per game margin.

The Huskies' brothers, senior Will Gates Jr. and sophomore Jalon Gates, have both more than doubled their offensive production from a year ago. Gates Jr. averaged 2.2 points per game last year while appearing in 15 games off the bench. This season, he's started every game and is giving HBU eight points per outing in just under 20 minutes per game. Jalon, meanwhile, is fourth on the team in scoring at 10.3 ppg in less than 15 minutes per game. He averaged 4.7 ppg as a freshman.

Dallas Christian (3-4) is coming off a 75-55 home win over Southwest Adventist on Thursday, Nov. 16. The Crusaders were led by Trey Lindsey, a senior forward, who had 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, three blocked shots and a pair of steals in the win. Lindsey leads DCC with 17 points and six rebounds per game. Braxton Gillespie, a senior guard, averages 12.6 per game while junior Kelden Williams is adding 11.4 points on average.

Last season, the Huskies handed the Crusaders a 98-54 loss. In that game, 14 different HBU players scored and six had at least eight points.

HBU remains at home for its next game, hosting Texas State in Sharp Gym on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 7:00 p.m.
