OREM, Utah – Utah Valley scored what would be the game-winner in the ninth minute as the HBU men's soccer team came out on the losing end of a 2-0 decision in Western Athletic Conference play on Thursday night at Clyde Field.
Austin Buxton led the early threat for Utah Valley (5-8-2, 2-3-2 WAC) with three shots in the first eight minutes. A corner kick at the 8:35 mark led to a header by Giovanny Vazquez that was stopped by HBU (5-7-0, 2-5-0 WAC) goalkeeper
Harrison Veith but Alec Felix was there to collect the loose ball and find the net to put the Wolverines ahead 1-0.

Devon Grant recorded the Huskies' first shot of the match on goal but UVU's Joseph Wheelwright made the save. The Wolverines extended their lead at the 32:03 mark when a pair of passes by Joe Barakat and Zach Maas resulted in a cross to Buxton whose header to the bottom left corner of the goal beat Veith and made it 2-0.
Josue Palomino and
Dominick Faletto both put shots on goal in the final 11 minutes of the half.
The Huskies were unable to muster a shot attempt in the second half while Veith made four saves along with a team save on a shot by Felix. Veith finished the night with five saves. Utah Valley held a 26-4 advantage in shots and took eight corner kicks to HBU's two.
HBU will close out its 2017 road schedule on Sunday night in Seattle, Wash. against No. 25 Seattle at 8:00 p.m. CST.
