SEATTLE, Wash. – Junior goalkeeper
Harrison Veith recorded 13 saves, tying a program record, as the HBU men's soccer team came out on the losing end of a 1-0 decision against 25
th-ranked Seattle on Sunday night at Championship Field.
Seattle (11-2-2, 5-0-2 WAC) came out of the gate on the offensive with six shot attempts in the first 10 minutes. The Redhawks got a penalty kick in the 16
th minute with Veith making the save for HBU (5-8-0, 2-6-0 WAC) on the Alex Roldan pk attempt but Julian Avila-Good was there to knock in the rebound to make it 1-0.The Huskies' first shot of the match was their only one on goal, coming from
Dequan Thomas at the 29:12 mark. Seattle out-shot the Huskies 20-2 in the first period.
In the second half, the Redhawks took six shots, putting eight on goal. HBU was out-shot 36-3 in the loss. Veith, making his eighth start in goal as a Husky, tying the previous program record for saves in a match with 13 and set by Phillip Poser in 2014. Seattle also held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks. Veith leads the WAC in saves per game with 5.75 and save percentage, at .836.
The Huskies will return home to close out the 2017 season at Sorrels Field, hosting UT Rio Grande Valley on Thursday, Oct. 26, and Incarnate Word on Sunday, Oct. 29.
