NATCHITOCHES, La. – HBU fell behind early in the second half but an equalizer from Autumn Wildung tied the match before Ellee Hall could score the game-winner in overtime for a 2-1 victory over Northwestern State for the Husky women's soccer team on Friday evening at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex.

Northwestern State (5-9-0, 1-6-0 SLC) put its first goal in the third minute with Gabriella Gamboa recording her first shot of the match. It took until the 41:18 mark for HBU (6-4-2, 5-1-1 SLC) to put its first shot on the goal when Sabriah Spencer's shot was stopped by NSU's Alex Latham. The match went into the half tied 0-0.

Just over a minute into the second half, The Lady Demons' Cache' Haley curled a corner into the goal to put NSU ahead 1-0. The Huskies pushed the ball into the NSU defensive end in the 61st minute, setting up a pair of corner kicks and two shots by Hall. Senior Casey Basso took a shot in the 63rd minute that was blocked by the Northwestern State defense that bounced to Wildung who knocked in the rebound to tie things up at 1-1. Guevara made three saves over the final nine minutes of regulation to keep things even and send the match to overtime.

The first action of the first overtime period came exactly three minutes in when a Spencer header found the feet of Hall who banged in the game-winner to end the match.

The win keeps the Huskies just two points out of first place, training McNeese and Lamar in the Southland conference standings. Hall, now with eight goals, is second in the league for goals scored and her five game-winners are also second-best. Wildung has scored all four of her goals over the last three HBU matches. In goal, Guevara recorded seven saves in earning her sixth win of the year.

"I am happy to get the road win, especially after not playing our best game," said head coach Misty Jones. "It was a very defensive, hard-working Northwestern State team and we were having some difficulty finishing our chances. The girls fought hard the entire game and won this one with some heart."

HBU wraps up the road portion of its schedule on Sunday, Oct. 16, afternoon in Conway, Ark, facing Central Arkansas at 1:00 p.m.
