HOUSTON – Rice hit .264 for the match to hand HBU a 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-21) defeat in the first away volleyball match of the season at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Ashlee Vann led the Huskies (1-3) with seven kills, while junior libero
Hailey Erickson led the Huskies with 15 digs. Junior middle blocker

Melissa Fuchs showed to have an impact with six kills, 14 digs, and two service aces. Senior setter
Kayla Armer handed out 22 assists.
Leah Mikesky led Rice (2-2) with 16 kills, while Grace Morgan led with six blocks. Madison McDaniel posted 36 assists and 11 digs, while Lee Ann Cunningham led the Owls with 12 digs.
Rice had 47 kills and 15 errors in 121 attempts, while HBU hit .093 (28/18/107). The Owls clipped the Huskies in the dig department, 53-52, and out blocked them 11.5-6.
The Huskies will be hosting the Barcelona Labor Day Classic in Sharp Gym this coming weekend starting with a match against North Florida, Friday at 11 a.m. and end the day against Pennsylvania at 7 p.m. Saturday the Huskies will take on Northern Colorado at 12 p.m. and will end the tournament against Toledo at 7 p.m.
