NATCHITOCHES, La. – Northwestern State outhit the HBU softball team, 11-3, to claim a 5-2 victory and 2-1 series win on Sunday afternoon at Lady Demon Diamond.

Erica Reyes all collected one hit for the Huskies (10-12, 2-4 SLC). Shedd and Reyes both collected extra-base knocks, belting one double and one triple against the Lady Demons (18-9, 3-3 SLC), respectfully.
Senior righty
Laci Belovsky (6-6) suffered the loss in the rubber game, allowing five runs (three earned) on 11 hits in a complete-game effort. NSU's junior righty Shelby Sells (6-5) picked up the win, scattering three hits and two runs (one earned) in going the distance for the opposition.
After two scoreless innings, HBU struck first for one run in the top of the third. With two outs, freshman shortstop
Savana Guidry reached on an infield throwing error, stealing second base, and freshman second baseman
Demi Janak walked, before Brown plated Guidry on a single up the middle.
The Lady Demons tied the game with a home run from second baseman Micayla Sorosiak, who led all with a 3-for-4 performance, in the bottom of the third and then plated four runs on three hits in the fourth, taking advantage of two errors, to take a 5-1 lead.
The Huskies added one more run on a pinch-hit, RBI triple from Reyes in the top of the seventh en route to the 5-2 final.
HBU will next return to Husky Field, opening a four-game homestand. The Huskies will host McNeese State in a three-game conference series across March 24-25. HBU will also welcome Louisiana-Monroe to Houston in non-conference action on March 29.
