MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – HBU's men's basketball team heads north to Milwaukee, Wisc. on Saturday for its next game at Big East member Marquette at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on FS2 with Jeff Levering providing play-by-play and Stephen Bardo serving as the analyst. The Huskies (2-2) are fresh off a pair of home wins which they won by a combined 80 points. In their most recent win over Ecclesia, HBU racked up 116 points for its highest point total since the 2011-12 season. Five Huskies scored in double-digits in the win and three more finished the game with nine points.
A pair of seniors have been leading the way for the Huskies so far.
Colter Lasher is averaging 14.8 points per game and leads the team in assists with 14. The senior forward is currently shooting 44.7 percent from the floor and 39.1 percent from three.
Atif Russell is adding 11 points per game while junior
Josh Ibarra is averaging 9.3 to go with a team-best 5.8 rebounds.
Sophomore Haanif Cheatham is the top scorer for the Golden Eagles (3-2) through five games, averaging 14.2 per contest while Jajuan Johnson is contributing 13 points on average and has already amassed 12 steals. Senior center Luke Fischer is Marquette's top rebounder with a 5.8 average combined with 12.4 points on the offensive end.
Marquette got back on the winning side of things in their last contest after a pair of losses with a 104-79 decision at home over IUPUI. The Golden Eagles hit 57.1 percent from the field and enjoyed 61 points from their bench. Cheatham was the game's leading scorer with 22.
The only other meeting between the two programs was the season-opening game of the 2008-09 season when Marquette was ranked 16
th in the nation. The Golden Eagles came out on top by a score of 95-64.
HBU returns to Houston for its next game with the Huskies slated to visit crosstown rival Rice on Wednesday, November 30, at Tudor Fieldhouse on the Rice campus with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m.
