HOUSTON – HBU used big runs to open the first, second and third periods to tally its first victory over the season, a 71-52 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God in non-conference women's basketball Wednesday night at Sharp Gym.

Taylor Kollmorgen recorded her first career double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds for the Huskies (1-3). Sophomore guard
Lisa Zderadicka added nine points, while senior guard

Britta Daub had seven apiece. Sophomore guard
Bria Johnson dished out six assists.
Charity Page had a double-double for SAGU (6-3), going 4-of-8 from the field and 10-of-14 from the free-throw line to finish with 18 points and 14 rebounds, but was held two only two boards in the second half. Lexi Rich chipped in with 12 points, hitting 2-for-6 from behind the arc, and six rebounds, while Laken Ward also had six rebounds and four steals. Taylor Sims added six points, five rebounds and four assists for the Lady Lions.
HBU shot 39.1 percent from the field, but only 20.0 percent (3-for-15) from 3-point range, and 18-for-22 from the free throw line. SAGU shot 33.3 percent from the field, 23.1 percent (3-for-13) from long distance and 13-for-20 from the stripe.
The Huskies scored the first eight points of the game as they opened with a 13-2 run, but Page scored six points and a Blise 3-pointer pulled the Lady Lions back to within four at 16-12 with 1:15 remaining in the first. Page then made 3-of-4 from the free-throw line in the final minute to make the score 18-15 at the end of one.
HBU scored the first eight point of the second, with Zderadicka capping the spurt with a three to put the Huskies ahead, 25-15, three minutes in. HBU led by 11, but a pair of free throws by Page with two seconds left in the half, cut the Huskies' lead to 33-26 at the break. Kollmorgen led the Huskies with eight points and six boards in the first half, while Page already had a double-double for SAGU with 11 points and 12 boards.
Freshman forward
Lauren Calver scored five-straight points to lead the Huskies on an 11-0 run to open the second half and lead 44-26. The Lady Lions answered by scoring the next five to cut their deficit to 13, but redshirt freshman forward
Charlotte Hodges made a layup with the shot clock expiring and only eight seconds left to give HBU a 49-34 at the end of three.
Daub nailed a three to extend HBU's advantage to 20 at 60-40 with 5:39 to go and later added a layup to give the Huskies' their largest lead of the game at 64-41 with 3:40 remaining. Sophomore center
Kennedy Collins hit a three with just under two minutes on the clock to keep the Huskies' lead at 21. After a pair of buckets by SAGU, two Kollmorgen free throws with less than a second left provided the final margin.
The Huskies wrap up their three-game homestand against Oral Roberts Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
