HBU Head Coach Vic Shealy Quotes
On Stephen F. Austin: "We wished we could've played out the last six minutes of the game much more clean, but that is part of the growing and maturation of your program. It was the first time we had been in that situation with the onside kicks, but you learn and we've got good coaches and players who want to better themselves and I'm confident we'll learn and grow. I'm even more excited, as a football program, we can create memories with that 17-point fourth quarter lead. The turnover we created led to a score and that was a pretty clutch field goal, it wound up making a difference in the game, and that was a mark of the maturity in our program. This is a really significant moment in our program."

On Tony Dawson: "I think everyone has been surprised all year long, but yet his tape doesn't lie and so if they were (surprised), he's done it all year long. It's hard to gauge the speed of the game on tape and it's fair. He's such an athletic guy, and speed is one thing, but just sheer athletic ability is raw and shows up on this field time and time again. We're grateful we're enjoying this moment with him as a senior quarterback in our program, and we all as coaches wish we could change his name and Social Security number to get a few more years out of him."

On Taaron Timmons: "With Taaron, we knew there would be a point in time where all of sudden we would be, 'OK, that's where the switch flipped'. Some of his football IQ, understanding the game, thinking less and reacting faster. Usually when defensive players think, they play slow, and when they react, they play fast. For him, it's just getting to a point where he can just go and he's just a beautiful athlete, who cares about this team. He's a model kid in our program and I'm just happy he had the success against SFA that he did, because we have felt for a long time in our program, we would see something like this."

On UIW: "This is a very, very tough league, and just like SFA found out and we found out at Southeastern Louisiana, every week they put zeros up on that scoreboard and in the Southland you are going to have a dogfight to see who is going to come out on top. Sam and Central Arkansas have kind of got everybody covered, but other than that, on any given day anything can happen and we've been fortunate to be successful. I'm sure we'll go back at the end of the year and that double overtime loss to Nicholls will haunt us. This next game is really important for us to finish off with a great, clean, well-executed ball game. This will test some things in our program with the short time to prepare. We got kind of beat up, but injuries always heal quicker when you win, so I'm confident our guys will show up Thursday night ready to play."
