th minute, were enough to take home another conference win on the road on Sunday afternoon at Nicholls SOC Complex.
"Overall we had a good weekend," head coach
Misty Jones said. "It's always a nice feeling to get two wins on the road. We were able to go deeper into our bench this weekend which certainly helped. The girls showed lots of energy off the bench and were a huge asset and a positive impact on the game. Allison had a great weekend with two goals and an assist. Overall, it was a great team effort."
While both teams had shots on goal in the first half, Huskies (5-6-1, 3-1-1 SLC) senior midfielder
Allison Abendschein was the difference. She received a ball from senior defender
Kristi O'Brien 15 yards out that she put away to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead going into half time.
The second half saw both teams add scores, first with Huskies sophomore forward
Gabby Rodriguez assisted by junior midfielder
Ellee Hall. Not even two minutes later Nicholls' Jess Coates cut the deficit to one by continuing play after the woodwork was tested. The Huskies were able to keep Nicholls at bay the rest of the match.
Rodriguez had three shots on goal out of the Huskies total of seven and junior goalkeeper
Katie Turner added another win to her record as she made five saves on the afternoon with one goal against.
Nicholls was led offensively by Jess Coates with three of the team's six shots on goal, while Jade Gallaher tallied five saves and two goals against.
The Huskies are set to travel to Abilene, Texas to compete against Southland member Abilene Christian on Friday at 7 p.m.
