SLU jumped out to a 10-2 lead midway through the first quarter before HBU rattled off five-straight as a Rachel Arthur layup was sandwiched between a Neal free throw and jumper. The Lady Lions closed the quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 17-7 lead after 10 minutes.

HBU opened the second quarter on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to four, 17-13, two minutes into the quarter.
