HOUSTON – The HBU volleyball team improved to 4-0 inside Sharp Gym, disposing of Prairie View A&M 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-16) on Tuesday night.

The Huskies (5-3) made quick work of the Panthers (0-9), completing the home-and-home series in straight sets, as Prairie View has dropped all 27 sets to open the 2015 season. HBU also swept the Panthers on September 1.

Huskies Allison Doerpinghaus, Laura Fox and Jessica Wooten paced the offense, as the team turned in a .337 attack percentage. Doerpinghaus was the most efficient with her swings, turning in eight kills on a .700 clip. Fox recorded career-highs in kills (8) and digs (6), while Wooten collected her third consecutive double-double (fourth overall) on the season in a 12-dig, 10-kill performance.

Junior setter Kayla Armer steered the offense with 34 assists, picking up her sixth 30-plus assist match on the season.

Sophomore Kayla Davenport helped limit Prairie View to a .038 attack percentage, registering a season-high six blocks (all assisted). HBU collected 11 total blocks to tie the team's season-high.

Both teams traded points in a contested opening set that saw the score pull even 13 times. Tied 13-13, a Wooten kill gave the Huskies the edge, opening a 12-3 run to a 25-16 set victory.

The momentum never wavered in the second and third sets, as HBU never trailed from 2-1 and 5-4 on to cruise to 25-15 and 25-16 wins.

The Huskies will now embark on a six-match road swing, beginning with the Jaguar Invitational across September 11-12. HBU will play host South Alabama on Friday at 6:30 p.m., before facing fellow tournament participants Samford (10:30 a.m.) and McNeese State (4 p.m.) on Saturday.

Postgame Quotes – Head Coach Trent Herman
Opening Comments…

"Tonight was good for us. One of our goals is to win all our matches at home and tonight we moved one step closer to that. This win gives us a little bit of confidence back before we hit the road for another tough tournament this weekend, traveling to South Alabama."

On team's defensive effort backing up a strong attack…
"Our block is getting better, as it has been pretty strong for most of the year. We really need to focus more on our floor defense behind it for us to get to where we want to get to."

On road tournament this weekend…
"The tournament this weekend should be more in our comfort zone, because we will be traveling by bus like we do in conference play. There will be some great competition for us to go up against and that will only help us continue to improve as we move forward."
