HBU (2-2-1) went 0-1-1 at the UT Rio Grande Valley Invitational last weekend, dropping a 2-1 decision to Southern Utah and battling the host Vaqueros to a scoreless draw. On the season,
Sabriah Spencer leads the team with two goals and four points, while
Allison Abendschein and
Ellee Hall have three points apiece. In goal,
Katie Turner has seen most of the action and is 2-1-1 with a 1.07 GAA, a .765 save percentage, and two shutouts.
After winning the first two games of the season, Incarnate Word (2-6-0) is on a six-game losing streak. The latest setback was a 4-0 loss at Tulsa to close the Golden Hurricane Tournament last weekend. On the year, Abigail Koenigs leads the team with three goals and six points, while Emani Stewart has a pair of lamp lighters. Karly Brightwell has started all eight matches in goal and is 0-5-0 with a 2.60 GAA, a .764 save percentage, and two shared shutouts with Heather Kowalik.
Following the match with the Cardinals, HBU concludes the season-high six match road trip with conference tilts at Sam Houston State (Sept. 25, 6:30 pm) and Stephen F. Austin (Sept. 27, 1:00 pm).
