HOUSTON – HBU concludes their season-opening home stand with a 5 pm kick off Friday against UTEP at Sorrels Field.

HBU is looking for its first win over the Miners, who lead the all-time series, 5-0-0. UTEP squeaked by the Huskies, 2-1, last season in El Paso.

HBU (1-0-0) opened regular season play with a 1-0 win Aug. 21 over Texas Southern. Freshman forward Gabby Rodriguez scored her first-collegiate goal in the 62nd minute, while sophomore Katie Turner made two saves for her first-collegiate shutout. Sunday's game against Texas State was postponed due to lightning.

After a season-opening 2-1 loss to Eastern Washington on Aug. 21, UTEP (1-1-0) redeemed itself with a 1-0 victory over Abilene Christian two days later. Bri Barreiro and Angela Cutaia each have a goal for the Miners, with the latter scoring the game winner over the Wildcats. In goal, Alyssa Palacios is 1-1-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average, a .867 save percentage, and one shutout.

Following Friday's match, HBU begins a season-high six-match road trip next Friday, Sept. 4 at UC Riverside at 9 pm central time.
