Allison Abendschein had a match-high four shots to lead HBU (6-4-1 overall, 4-2-0 SLC), while she and
Sabriah Spencer had two shots on goal apiece.
Alanis Guevara took the loss in goal as she stopped four shots.
Maria Gomez paced ACU (5-7-2, 3-1-1) with two shots on goal, as she, Dylan Owens, and Danielle Otto scored. Reigning SLC Goalkeeper of the Week Sydney Newton stopped six shots in the win.
Neither team could get the upper hand in the first half. HBU had three shots on goal in under a minute. The Huskies outshot the Wildcats in the half, 7-5, and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Mere seconds after ACU's Chloe Fifer came in as a sub, she assisted on the game's first goal, scored by Gomez in the 61st minute.
The Wildcats increased their lead to 2-0 seven minutes later as Otto scored on a penalty kick. With only two minutes left in regulation, Lindsey Jones sent an up-field pass to Owens, who beat Guevara far side for a 3-0 visitor lead. Seconds later, Spencer gave HBU some life with her seventh goal of the season, assisted by
Ellee Hall.
Second-half shots were even at six apiece, with HBU gaining a 13-11 advantage for the match. The Huskies had all five of the half's corner kicks and had eight of the nine chances in the game.
HBU gets a week off before hitting the road at Central Arkansas Friday, Oct. 16 at 7:00 p.m.
