NATCHITOCHES, La. – The HBU volleyball team downed Northwestern State in straight sets (25-22, 25-23, 25-18) on Thursday night inside Prather Coliseum.
Junior setter
Kayla Armer helped pace the Huskies (9-10, 2-3 SLC), turning in her eighth double-double of the season. The native of Bradenton, Florida, finished with 24 assists and was one of three players to finish with 10 digs against the Lady Demons (3-16, 1-5 SLC). Armer was joined by sophomores
Bailey Banks and
Hailey Erickson in reaching the double-figure mark on the back row.
Junior outside hitter
Jessica Wooten led all, recording 12 kills on a .321 hitting percentage. As a team, HBU outhit NSU .170-.086.
In the opening set, the Huskies got seven kills from Wooten to claim a 25-22 victory and followed with a 25-23 edge in set two to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
HBU limited the Lady Demons to a .029 clip in the third set to complete the sweep, 25-18.
The Huskies will close their two-match road swing on Saturday at Stephen F. Austin in a 1 p.m. first serve.
