HOUSTON – HBU women's soccer looks to remain perfect at Sorrels Field when the Huskies conclude a three-game home stand Friday against Southland Conference foe, Abilene Christian, Friday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m.

The series with ACU is tied at 1-1-0 with each team winning on its home soil. The Wildcats won the inaugural meeting, 1-0, in 2013, while HBU returned the favor last year by defeating ACU 1-0 in overtime on a goal by Rebekah Tovar.

Last weekend, HBU (6-3-1 overall, 4-1-0 SLC) went 2-0 with wins over Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls. Sabriah Spencer scored both game winners and finished with three goals on her way to being named SLC Offensive Player of the Week. HBU joined then-No. 1 Florida State as the only teams to shut out SLU so far this season. On the season, Spencer is T-6th in points (12) and T-5th in goals (5). She is second in the league with 1.33 points per game. Allison Abendschein and Ellee Hall have six points apiece, with the latter leading the way with four assists. In goal, Katie Turner and Alanis Guevara have split time. Turner is 4-2-1 with a 1.04 goals-against average (3rd in the SLC), a .750 save percentage, and three shutouts (2nd). Guevara is 2-1-0 with a 1.13 GAA (4th), a .810 save percentage (5th), and one shutout.

Abilene Christian (4-7-2, 3-1-1) shut out conference opponents in consecutive games for the first time in program history as the Wildcats defeated Northwestern State, 2-0, and Central Arkansas, 1-0, last weekend. For that accomplishment, Kelsie Roberts and Sydney Newton were named SLC Defender and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively. Sophie Standifer leads the team with eight points as she and Lindsey Jones have a team-best three goals. Newton has seen most of the work in goal and is 3-3-1 with a 1.53 GAA, a .833 save percentage (2nd in the SLC), and two shutouts.

After the match with ACU, the Huskies hit the road one final time in the regular season. HBU plays Central Arkansas Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. and Northwestern State Sunday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m.
