The Huskies improve to 12-12 overall, 5-5 in Southland Conference play.

THIBODEAUX, La. – Junior outside hitter Jessica Wooten recorded her team-leading 10th double-double of the season to fuel the HBU volleyball team to a straight-set victory (25-20, 25-18, 26-24) at Nicholls on Saturday afternoon inside Stopher Gym.

Wooten finished with a team-high 11 kills and added 11 digs for the Huskies (12-12, 5-5 SLC) on the back row. The 11-kill effort gives the native of Humble, Texas, 987 total for her career, moving passed Rachel Dinkins (977, 1999-01) for ninth all-time at HBU.

Sophomore middle blocker Blair Gillard also recorded double-figure kills against the Colonels (5-15, 0-9 SLC), finishing with 10 on a .333 clip and a match-high five blocks. Junior setter Kayla Armer finished with 35 assists.

Wooten was one of three Huskies to finish with double-figure digs, joined with 11 from sophomore outside hitter Bailey Banks and a match-high 21 from junior libero Melissa Fuchs.

HBU got a balanced effort from its attack in the opening set, led by three kills from senior middle blocker Allison Doerpinghaus in taking a 25-20 victory.

The Huskies then followed with a match-high .421 clip for a 25-18 set two win, before closing the match with 26-24 edge in the third set.

HBU will now return to Sharp Gym for three matches next week. The Huskies will host Texas Southern on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the team's non-conference finale, before facing Sam Houston State (Oct. 29) and Lamar (Oct. 31).
