HOUSTON – HBU women's soccer enters the final stretch of the regular season as they host the final three games at Sorrels Field beginning with a 7 p.m. first kick Friday against McNeese State. The Huskies conclude the weekend hosting Lamar Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Huskies trail conference leader Stephen F. Austin (6-0-1 in SLC play) and hold a steady lead over third-place Southeastern Louisiana and Sam Houston State (4-3-1). The top two teams get first-round byes in the upcoming Southland Conference Tournament, held Nov. 5-8 in Conway, Ark.

HBU took a 3-2-0 series lead over McNeese State with a 2-1 overtime win last season in Houston. HBU owns the Lamar series, 2-0-3, as the two teams battled to a 1-1 stalemate last season in Houston.
 
HBU (8-4-1 overall, 6-2-0 SLC) closed out the road portion of the regular season with a 2-1 overtime win over Central Arkansas Oct. 16 and a 3-1 victory over Northwestern State Oct. 18. Sabriah Spencer had a five-point week and scored both game winners en route to being named SLC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks. She leads the SLC in game winners (6) and goals-per-game (0.75), while her nine goals place her fourth. Ellee Hall is T-3rd in the conference with six assists. In goal, Alanis Guevara started both games last week and is 4-2-0 with a 1.37 GAA (9th in the SLC), a .791 save percentage (7th), and one shutout. Her 4.86 saves per game place her 7th in the SLC. Katie Turner is 4-2-1 with a 1.04 GAA (2nd), a .750 save percentage, and three blankings (T-2nd).
 
McNeese State (6-8-0, 3-5-0) split last weekend, defeating Incarnate Word, 1-0, Oct. 16 and dropping a 3-2 double-overtime decision to Abilene Christian two days later. The Cowgirls have played five overtime contests this season, including a stretch of four straight from Sept. 25-Oct. 4. Gabi D'Alesandro leads the team in points (10) and assists (4). She is one of four players with three goals. Lauren Sestanek and Maggie Marks have split time in goal and have a combined 1.43 GAA and two shutouts.
 
Lamar (6-10-1, 2-5-1) went 0-1-1 on the week, losing to ACU and tying UIW. The Lady Cardinals feature a potent offense, led by freshman Jordan Mulnix, who leads the SLC in goals (12) and points (27). Four other players have at least 10 points. In goal, Lauren Lovejoy leads the SLC with 132 saves and has a 2.43 GAA with one shutout.
 
After this weekend, HBU ends the regular season hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday, October 30 at 5 p.m., where the Huskies will honor seniors Blake Martin and Rebekah Tovar prior to the match.
