HEAD COACH VIC SHEALY QUOTES
On Central Arkansas:
"Coach (Steve) Campbell has those guys playing probably as well as anybody in the league. They're very, very talented, they run well and they're physical. We knew it would be a tough opportunity for us -- their front four creates such dysfunction and they had done it in previous games, so we knew we'd be tested there. I feel like we do have the ability to run the football, but I thought they made it really difficult. While I think there's still some bright points in the game that show our improvement, at the end of the day you've got to be able to compete and win and we're trying to get there as fast as we can."

On Nicholls: "Their kids are fundamentally sound, they're playing hard and Coach (Tim) Rebowe has done a great job in a short amount of time. It's a difficult place to play and I think they're getting better to where it will be a real challenge for our kids this week."

On QB Max Staver: "We think Max is coming along. I think at the beginning of the year we thought we had a guy with arm talent and the DNA you want to recruit into your program. He came to us a talented, but very inexperienced player, so we knew there would be challenges to kind of grow him up. He got banged up the second week, so he hadn't been healthy until this past week. He was back this week as healthy as he's probably been and I think it helped him to create some offense and do some things. This will be a year, being a sophomore, where there's going to be some bright spots, but we will still see challenges. I'm thankful we have him in our program, he's a good leader, football is important to him, he shows up everyday to practice, he's got a good, bright eye to him and he's very infectious. I just think he's certainly much of the forward-thinking, in terms of us offensively, being able to build around him. We're grateful to have him here."

On Running Game: "While we're trying to grow linemen, when kids play hard, even when they are somewhat outmanned, there is a fight to them that gives us a chance. I do think we are pretty good at running back. I think B.J. Kelly and Terrance Peters are two really talented players who make everyone look a little better when they're running the ball, because of their ability to break a tackle or get into the open field and really accelerate."
