Game Notes LAKE CHARLES, La. - HBU begins a three-game Southland Conference road swing through Louisiana, beginning with McNeese State Monday at 7 p.m. at Burton Coliseum. Colter Lasher, who averages 10.8 points per game and junior guard
Anthony Odunsi, who averages 10.7 points per game. Senior guard
Marcel Smith has scored in double figures in five of the last eight games, including a season-high 16 against Northwestern State Saturday, and has upped his season average to 8.8 points per game. Freshman center
Josh Ibarra leads HBU with 7.1 rebounds per game and ranks 17th nationally with 2.9 blocked shots per game.
Desharick Guidry leads the Cowboys (6-6, 0-1) with 16.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. Keelan Garrett adds 11.3 points per game, while Kevin Hardy chips in with 10.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. Jamaya Burr scores 8.5 points per game and leads McNeese State with 4.5 assists per game.
HBU dropped its conference opener to Northwestern State, 99-78, at home Saturday. Smith nailed a career-high four threes, while Odunsi and sophomore forward
Reveal Chukwujekwu had 10 points apiece. McNeese State also fell at home in its first Southland contest of the season, 80-75, to defending league champion Stephen F. Austin Saturday. Garrett had 26 points and seven rebounds for the Cowboys, Guidry had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Hardy went for 11 points, six boards and nine assists. Shaun Johnson came off the bench to score 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from long distance.
McNeese State leads the all-time series against HBU, 14-2, and won both meetings last season only by a total of four points. The Cowboys pulled out a 70-68 victory on Jan. 18 in Lake Charles, then a 79-77 win on March 8 in the season finale.
The Huskies will return to action when they face Southeastern Louisiana Saturday in Hammond, before wrapping up the trip against Nicholls Jan. 13 in Thibodaux.
