Volleyball Drops 3-0 to SMU, New Mexico

Senior Megan McStravick leads Huskies defensively.

DALLAS – HBU senior outside hitter Megan McStravick recorded double-digit digs in both matches against SMU and New Mexico Friday at the SMU Tournament.
 
The Huskies dropped 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-14) to SMU Friday afternoon. Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Wooten and freshman middle blocker Blair Gillard led the Huskies with eight kills each. Sophomore setter Kayla Armer recorded 25 assists for HBU (5-8), along with six digs. McStravick led the team defensively with 10 digs.
 
Janelle Giordano led the Mustangs with 10 kills. Abbey Shay recorded nine kills, along with a match-high of 11 digs. Avery Acker led SMU with 38 assists. Morgan Heise had 10 digs for the Mustangs.
 
The Mustangs outblocked the Huskies 8-6. SMU outhit HBU 48-26. The Huskies fell short by 10 digs to the Mustangs.
 
The Huskies fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-9) to New Mexico Friday evening. Wooten led the Huskies with seven kills to go along with her seven digs. Armer had 21 assists for HBU. Senior libero Haley Hoffman recorded 15 digs for the Huskies, while Armer had 11 digs. McStravick had 13 digs for HBU.   
 
Chantale Riddle recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 16 digs for the Lobos. Devanne Sours had nine kills for New Mexico. Hannah Johnson recorded a match-high of 28 assists for the Lobos to go along with her 12 digs. Ashley Kelsey had 11 digs for New Mexico.
 
The Lobos outblocked the Huskies 12-6. New Mexico outhit HBU 40-26. The Huskies fell short by just four digs to the Lobos.
 
The Huskies return to action to conclude the SMU Tournament Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. to face the College of Charleston.
