Blair Gillard had a total of eight blocks to go along with her six kills in the Huskies' 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-18) victory over Prairie View A&M Tuesday evening in Sharp Gym.

Megan McStravick recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs for HBU (5-6). Sophomore setter
Kayla Armer had a match-high of 35 assists against the Panthers. Senior libero
Haley Hoffman also had a match-high of 12 digs against Prairie View.
Ana Kiso led the Panthers with 27 assists. Candyce Alexander recorded eight kills for Prairie View, while MoKeysha Shanklin had seven kills. Chandler Bacon recorded eight digs for the Panthers.
In the first set, the Huskies scored three straight points to go up 10-6 over the Panthers, then later scored three more to lead 17-10 on a kill by McStravick. HBU's largest lead of the set clenched the opening frame 25-17. The Huskies hit .469 with 17 kills and only two errors.
In the second set, Prairie View jumped out to a 6-2 lead and led 7-4, but HBU ripped off five straight points, including back-to-back kills by McStravick to lead 9-7. A four point run put HBU ahead 20-13, then the Huskies scored the last five points of the set, which included a pair of aces by McStravick and a kill by junior middle blocker

In the third set, the Panthers led 13-10, but HBU scored three in a row to tie up the set. The set remained tied at 15-15, but the Huskies scored four in a row during which Gillard had a pair of blocks to bring the score to 19-15. HBU pushed their lead to 22-16, then closed out the set on a block by Doerpinghaus and sophomore middle blocker
Ashlee Vann.
The Huskies outblocked the Panthers 11-3. HBU also outhit Prairie View 43-34. The Panthers fell short by just five digs to the Huskies.
The Huskies will return to action this weekend in Dallas, Texas for the SMU Tournament. The first game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19 against SMU. The Huskies will then face New Mexico at 4 p.m. that afternoon, followed by a match on Saturday at 12 p.m. against College of Charleston.
