HOUSTON – HBU sophomore setter
Kayla Armer recorded 43 assists and 13 digs for the Huskies in their 3-2 (25-16, 25-23, 23-25, 19-25, 15-7) fall to UT-Chattanooga in the last match of the Houston Marriott Westchase Invitational Saturday evening at Sharp Gym.
Senior outside hitter
Megan McStravick led HBU (0-3) with 15 digs, along with eight kills. Senior outside hitter
Bailey Keith led the Huskies with 11 kills. Sophomore defensive specialist
Beth Shecterle recorded 12 digs, while senior setter
Haley Hoffman and sophomore outside hitter
Jessica Wooten had 10 digs each.
Lauren Greenspoon led the Mocs with a match-high of 53 assists. Sarah Batterton recorded 18 kills for Chattanooga, while Julimar Alvarado had 15 kills. Briana Reid recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 16 digs, while Kristy Wieser had 12 kills and 23 digs. Catherine Chason had 22 digs, while Brianna Guzinski had 14 digs.
The Mocs outhit the Huskies 63-52. UT-Chattanooga outdug HBU by nine digs. The Huskies outblocked the Mocs nine blocks to seven blocks.
Northern Arizona finished first in the tournament and has selected Janae Vander Ploeg, Sydney Kemper and Jensen Barton to the All-Tournament team. Tulsa selected Valerie El Houssine and Erica Bohannon. UT-Chattanooga selected Catherine Chason, while HBU selected senior outside hitter
Megan McStravick. The MVP of the tournament was NAU's Jensen Barton.
The Huskies will return to action Tuesday, September 2 against Prairie View A&M in Prairie View, Texas at 7 p.m.
