Women’s Soccer Blanks New Mexico St., 3-0

Ellee Hall scores first-collegiate goal for Huskies

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – HBU scored twice in the first half and added an insurance marker in the second, as the Huskies defeated New Mexico State, 3-0, Friday evening.

"The game was an excellent team effort," said head coach, Misty Jones. "We executed on the things we worked on on practice this week which is always great to see. Patty had an outstanding  performance in goal and definitely earned the shutout."

Senior Kelsey Missimer led HBU (1-2-0) with three shots, while sophomore Allison Abendschein, Hager, Hall, and sophomore Jia LeBlanc each registered a shot on goal.

Senior Patty Walrath made four saves. The whitewashing was the sixth in her career and places her third-all time; five behind all-time leader, Shelby Horn.

Jennae Cambra led New Mexico State (0-4-0) with five shots. Tayler Hammack took the loss in goal.

The Huskies earned an own goal, as senior Taylor Gibson sent in a cross that an Aggie defender tried to clear, but headed the ball over her own keeper's head into the net in the 16th minute. Freshman Ellee Hall scored her first-collegiate goal, also unassisted, as she curled a corner kick into the net in the 42nd minute. The Huskies' third strike came off the boot of senior Natalie Hager, assisted by junior Rebekah Tovar in the 58th minute.

HBU (1-2-0) conclude the season-opening four-game road trip at UTEP Sunday afternoon at 2 pm central.
